Caterpillar has a variety of upgrade kits for your equipment, old or new. Cat® fire extinguisher mount kits are a way to promote extra safety if needed on your jobsite. These kits are easy to install and compatible with a range of machines. Here’s a step-by-step guide for installing a fire extinguisher mount on a Cat 299D3 Compact Track Loader. While the process may vary slightly for other machines, you can expect it to be similar. And you can consult your Cat dealer for specific instructions.
Check out the video and then read on for a list of steps.
Begin by assembling the bracket, including the strap that secures the fire extinguisher in place.
If your cab does not already have the safety films, install the ones included in the kit.
If your equipment does not have predrilled holes, use the template provided in the kit. Mark the locations and then drill the holes for the mounting plate.
Position the plate and push screws through each hole. Inside the cab, apply thread compound and secure the second screw from the top with a nut and washer.
Place the mounting bracket over the installed plate and fasten it with the remaining nuts and washers. Ensure all hardware is tight for a secure fit.
Adjust the cover as needed to clear the newly installed bracket. This ensures proper operation of the cab door and other components.
